Released in July of 2021 after a successful Kickstarter campaign, HIGHRISERS🔗 is described as an Urban Survival RPG. Developed by SOLARPOWERED GAMES🔗 in Munich, Germany and published by Assemble Entertainment, I started worked on the game since before its Kickstarter in late 2016 as a contractor.
While initially hired to perform basic asset and tileset work, my duties expanded to include helping to direct and refine the game's signature art style, including making critical choices for the unique shoebox perspective, writing the game's style guide and reviewing assets from other contractors to maintain a coherent style and quality, managing subcontracting work to deliver intermediate assets, producing concept art, and taking on many of the game's most complex and/or difficult artistic challenges with creative problem solving and communication. I also took on work assisting QA, as well as helping refine and polish game design in ways that emphasize effective art integration and player-first principles. All of my work was accomplished via a remote position.
